Welcome to year four. Our class is called Singapore Class! There used to be lots of military schools there - 4 secondary schools and 7 primary schools! Singapore is in Asia, underneath Malaysia on a map.

Fact 1: Singapura means lion city in Sanskrit and this is the symbol of Singapore. This is because long ago a Prince travelling through from Indonesia thought he saw a lion there. This is funny because there have never been lions in Singapore so who knows what he actually saw!
Fact 2: According to research, Singaporeans walk faster than anyone else in the world!
Fact 3: Singapore is an island country and a city all at the same time. Besides the main island, the nation of Singapore includes 63 other tiny islands, most of which no one lives on.
Fact 4: Singapore is one of the 20 smallest countries in the world. The USA is about 15,000 times bigger.
Fact 5: The red flag symbolises brotherhood and equality while white signifies purity. The crescent moon represents a young nation on the rise and the five stars signify 5 values just like Haig school! There’s stand for democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality.

Fact 7: Most people in Singapore people speak Singlish which is like English with a few additions!
